Production

The season was renewed on March 27, 2013 for the 2013–14 TV season. A revised opening credits sequence and on screen clue information graphics were developed for this season.

The season spanned 35,000 miles (56,000 km) through four continents and nine countries, including Chile, Norway, and the United Arab Emirates. The Double Express Pass, introduced in the previous season, returned – in which the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop on the first leg received two Express Passes, one for themselves and one to give to any other team.

  • A red team placement means the team was eliminated.
  • A green ƒ indicates that the team won a Fast Forward.
  • A purple ε indicates that the team decided to use the first Express Pass on that leg; if next to a leg number, it indicates that the team with the first Express Pass was eliminated on that Leg without ever having used it. A magenta ə indicates the team had previously been given the second Express Pass and used it on that leg.
  • An underlined blue team's placement indicates that the team came in last on a non-elimination leg and had to perform a Speed Bump during the next leg of the race.
  • An underlined leg number indicates that there was no mandatory rest period at the Pit Stop and all teams were ordered to continue racing. The first place team was still awarded a prize for that leg.
  • A brown ⊃ or a cyan ⋑ indicates that the team chose to use one of the two U-Turns in a Double U-Turn; or indicates the team who received it.
  1. Nicole & Travis initially arrived 1st, but were issued a 30-minute penalty for taking a taxi to the Pit Stop. Tim & Marie checked in during the penalty, dropping Nicole & Travis to 2nd place.
  2. Leo & Jamal initially arrived 1st, but could not check in because they didn't pay their cab fare. When they returned to the cab to pay their fare, Chester & Ephraim checked in; dropping Leo & Jamal to 2nd.
  3. Chester & Ephraim arrived in Lisbon hours after the remaining teams, after encountering a flight delay in Buenos Aires, a missed connection in São Paulo, and a rerouting through London. They were eliminated by Phil upon their arrival at Lisbon Portela Airport, after all the other teams had already checked in at the Pit Stop.
  4. Tim & Marie used their Express Pass to bypass the Detour in Leg 5.
  5. Nicole & Travis were previously given the Express Pass by Tim & Marie while on the ferry to Trondheim. They used it to bypass the Detour on Leg 8.
  6. Leo & Jamal departed from the Al Ain Pit Stop late alongside Ally & Ashley because they overslept.
